Series 43 of record group 59-4 consists of a blueprint of the resurvey of St. Mary's River at Neebish Island, Michigan, originally collected by either the Michigan Geological Survey or the Michigan Lands Division. Record sheet no. 20, West Neebish, constructed from topographical survey by Col. O.M. Poe, Corps of Engineers, U.S.A. in 1894. Map is in two pieces, 26" x 11" and 26" x 16 1/2" in size, with no scale given.

The Michigan Geological Survey was created by Public Act 20 of 1837. Its purpose was to conduct a geological and mineralogical survey of the state. The state legislature appointed Douglass Houghton the first state geologist (1837). In 1921, the state legislature established the Department of Conservation, and the Michigan Geological Survey became part of that department (Public Act 17 of 1921).
